BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE Drummer: 'We See Ourselves As Just A Classic Metal Band'
October 2, 2006Abby Weingarten of HeraldTribune.com recently conducted an interview with BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE drummer Michael "Moose" Thomas. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
On the band's musical approach:
"I think we're actually writing songs that people can sing along to. We see ourselves as just a classic metal band.
"When we were growing up listening to music, you could sing along to those songs (METALLICA, JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN),and they were great. We're trying to bring that good stuff back."
On the band's early years:
"We'd been a band for so many years, and we were trying to do shows and make music, and no one cared. Obviously, we've been pretty big for a few years now, but it just kind of blew up in our face."
On touring the U.S.:
"I can't really put into words how cool it is being onstage, especially when you come from a different country. What's happening here was going on 12 months ago in Wales, since our record was out in October last year in the U.K."
On the group's next album, which is set for release next June (eight songs are currently in pre-production, readying for the recording studio in January):
"It's going to smoke, this next record."
